THEATRE ZINGARO: ‘TRIPTYK’

Choreographer-director- horseman Bartabas brings his latest

equestrian spectacle, “Triptyk,” for its U.S. premiere at 8:30 p.m.

through Nov. 10. There will be no performances on Mondays or

Thursdays. The show will be held at Zingaro Village, adjacent to

Orange County Performing Arts Center and opposite South Coast Plaza.

‘LA PASION SEGUN SAN MARCOS’

The West Coast premiere of composer Osvaldo Golijov’s “La Pasion

Segun San Marcos” will take place at 8 p.m. today at Segerstrom Hall,

Orange County Performing Arts Center, 600 Town Center Drive, Costa

Mesa. The pageant connects the biblical Passion story with Holy Week

and Carnaval. $19 to $59.

MASTERS OF PERSIAN MUSIC

Four Iranian musicians will take the stage at 7 p.m. Sunday at

Segerstrom Hall, Orange County Performing Arts Center, 600 Town

Center Drive, Costa Mesa. The musicians, including vocalist Mohammed

Reza Shajarian, are considered among the greatest virtuoso performers

of classical Persian music. $19 to $59.

ORQUESTA SINFONICA NACIONAL DE MEXICO

Founded to promote Mexican music, the Orquesta Sinfonica Nacional

de Mexico will perform at 8 p.m. Wednesday at Segerstrom Hall, Orange

County Performing Arts Center, 600 Town Center Drive, Costa Mesa. $19

to $59.

ORQUESTRA DE SAO PAULO

Performing on its first U.S. tour, Orquestra de Sao Paulo will

take the stage at 8 p.m. Friday at Segerstrom Hall, Orange County

BALLET PRELJOCAJ

French choreographer Angelin Preljocaj will present two new works

set to Karlheinz Stockhausen’s “Helicopter Quartet” and Igor

Stravinsky’s “Rite of Spring” at 8 p.m. Friday and Oct. 26 at the

Irvine Barclay Theatre, 4242 Campus Drive, Irvine. $32 to $38.

‘NIGHT FLIGHT TO RIO’

Orquestra de Sao Paulo will join with Banda Mantiqueira at 8 p.m.

Oct. 26 to explore the links between classical music and jazz. The

performance will be held at Segerstrom Hall, Orange County Performing

Arts Center, 600 Town Center Drive, Costa Mesa. $15 to $45.

‘A BAROQUE FEAST’

The Pacific Chorale, joined by the John Alexander Singers, will

perform the music of Handel, Bach and Vivaldi at 7 p.m. Oct. 27 in

Segerstrom Hall, Orange County Performing Arts Center, 600 Town

Center Drive, Costa Mesa. $16 to $50.

BRAZILIAN GUITAR QUARTET

The Brazilian Guitar Quartet will perform at 8 p.m. Oct. 28 at the

Irvine Barclay Theatre, 4242 Campus Drive, Costa Mesa. $23 to $29.

THE DOUBLE BASS

Author Patrick Suskind’s one-man play “The Double Bass” will be

performed at 8 p.m. Oct. 30 to Nov. 2 at Founders Hall, Orange County

Performing Arts Center, 600 Town Center Drive, Costa Mesa. The play,

starring Louis Fantasia, examines a second-rate musician’s love-hate

relationship with his instrument and his life. $15

‘THE RED BALLOON’

Based on the classic 1956 French film, this critically acclaimed

production has Scottish theater group Visible Fictions joining forces

with Seattle Children’s Theatre for a production at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 1

at the Irvine Barclay Theatre, 4242 Campus Drive, Irvine. $15 for

adults, $11 for children.

THROAT SINGERS OF TUVA

Huun Huur Tu, a Tuvan throat singing group, will perform at 8 p.m.

Nov. 2 at the Irvine Barclay Theatre, 4242 Campus Drive, Irvine.

Throat singing uses an amazing technique in which a vocalist produces

two distinct tones simultaneously. $24 or 28.

ANDREA MARCOVICCI

Cabaret star Andrea Marcovicci will perform at 5 p.m. Nov. 3 at

the Irvine Barclay Theatre, 4242 Campus Drive, Irvine. The evening

will feature the music of Cole Porter. $35 to $45.

‘LA BOHEME’

Puccini’s “La Boheme,” a tale of undying love, will be presented

by Opera Pacific at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 5 to 9 at Segerstrom Hall, Orange

County Performing Arts Center, 600 Town Center Drive, Costa Mesa. The

production, originally created by the Canadian Opera Company, will

feature the debut of Ukrainian tenor Misha Didyk. $25 to $125.
