Dana Jennifer Engstrom and James Cornelius McCarthy exchanged

wedding vows in the Arbor at The Hyatt Newporter in Newport Beach on

May 24.

The bride, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. David Ralph Engstrom of

Newport Beach, wore a formal strapless gown of white silk duchess

satin with white satin-faced organza trim. She wore a satin-edged

cathedral veil adorned with a tiara and carried an arm bouquet of

white calla lilies.

Her maids of honor were Teri Ann Peters, Maria Dayaw and Claudia

Carnesella. Her bridesmaids were Mary McCarthy, Stephanie Giambruno

and Sarita Harilela.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Bernard McCarthy of

Corona del Mar. His best men were Michael McCarthy, Jeffery Kaiman

and Paolo Wheaton. His groomsmen were Brian Engstrom, Loren Engstrom

and Matthew Retoske.

The flower girls were Blaine Jones and Hayden Jones and the ring

bearer was Noah Leibsker.

The ceremony was followed by a reception of 180 guests in the

Terrace Room at The Hyatt Newporter.

The bride graduated cum laude from Arizona State University with a

major in psychology and a minor in business. She is employed as a

counseling services manager at the University of Phoenix, where she

is studying for a master’s degree in e-business.

The groom graduated sum cum laude from Arizona State University

with a major in history. He is employed as an academic counselor at

the University of Phoenix, where he will be studying for a master’s

degree in business administration and an Arizona teaching credential.

The couple is at home in Scottsdale, Ariz. following a short

wedding trip to La Jolla. A longer wedding trip is planned to New

York City in December.

Englebrecht-West

Roy and Nancy Englebrecht of Newport Beach would like to announce

the engagement of their daughter, Allison Englebrecht of Newport

Beach, to Matthew Johnson West of Irvine.

The bride-elect graduated from Corona del Mar High School and the

University of Portland, Ore. She teaches English at Santa Ana High

School, where she also coaches girls’ volleyball.

The future groom, son of Robert and Nina West of Irvine, graduated

from Woodbridge High School and UC Santa Barbara. He teaches history

at Mater Dei High School, where he also coaches girls soccer.

A Nov. 23 wedding is planned in the Good Shepard Chapel at

Concordia University in Irvine. The couple plans on taking a wedding

trip to Mexico and will reside in Irvine.
