Coast residents get to question candidates

Newport Coast residents can meet with City Council candidates from

6 to 8 p.m. today at Newport Coast Elementary School.

Though Newport Coast’s District 7 council seat is not up for

reelection in November, registered voters living in Newport Coast and

throughout Newport Beach will be allowed to vote for one candidate in

each of the four districts in the election.

The forum will take place at Newport Coast Elementary School, 6655

Ridge Park Road. Refreshments will be served.

Hoag expansion set for public talk today

West Newport Beach residents concerned about Hoag Hospital

expansion can attend a public forum on the matter at 7 p.m. today.

Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian Vice President Peter Foulke

will discuss the hospital’s plans and visions for the future and how

they might affect Newport Beach residents, especially those in Villa

Balboa, Versailles, Newport Crest and Balboa Coves.

The event, put on by the West Newport Beach Assn., will take place

in City Council Chambers at City Hall, 3300 Newport Blvd. For more

OCC enrollment nears 28,000

With the conclusion of the first week of the second round of

eight-week classes, Orange Coast College’s fall semester enrollment

is four students shy of 28,000.

To date, OCC has enrolled a total of 27,996 students, according to

figures released Tuesday. OCC is expected to top the 29,000-mark

before the semester concludes Dec. 15.
