Tonight’s Game

Marina (3-5, 1-2) vs. Los Alamitos (7-0-1, 3-0)

(at Veterans Stadium, 7 p.m.)

Marina must win in the last two weeks of the regular season to

make the Division I postseason playoffs. That task begins tonight

against Sunset League front-runner Los Alamitos.

If there’s a team that has caused Los Al fits the past few years,

it has been Marina, which owns a couple of upsets over the Griffins.

The Vikings, however, enter this game trying to atone for last

week’s 41-0 loss to Edison in a game where they gave up more than 370

yards of total offense and were shutout for the first time this

season.

Los Alamitos, meanwhile, gained control of the race for the Sunset

championship by handing Fountain Valley its first league loss last

Friday.

Last year’s score: Griffins 39, Vikings 7

Friday’s Games

Huntington Beach (4-4, 0-3) vs. Edison (3-5, 1-2)

(at Huntington Beach High, 7 p.m.)

Coming off that 41-0 victory over Marina in what was, perhaps, its

most complete game of the season, Edison is looking to ride that

momentum and keep its postseason hopes alive on homecoming night at

Sheue Field.

Behind the pinpoint passing of Tommy Grady and the four-touchdown,

174-yard-rushing performance by running back Andy Avila, the Chargers

turned in a dominating performance against Marina and ended a losing

skid at four games.

The Charger defense also came up with its first shutout of the

season.

Huntington Beach, which had been averaging 22 points per game,

suffered its first shutout of the season in last week’s 42-0 loss to

Esperanza.

The Aztecs took advantage of several Oiler turnovers and held

running back Patrick Harrigan to a season-low 61 yards.

Last year’s score: Chargers 66, Oilers 19

Saddleback (2-6,1-3) vs. Ocean View (1-7, 0-3)

(at Westminster High, 7 p.m.)

Ocean View will be looking to win its first game in six weeks when

the Seahawks return to Golden West League action at Boswell Field.

Ocean View held a 16-7 lead on Rancho Alamitos in a nonleague

clash last week, but could not contain Vaqueros running back Tai

Asoau, who rushed for 333 yards and five touchdowns as Rancho

Alamitos ran away with an eventual 50-16 win.

Saddleback dropped two straight league games with Westminster and

Santa Ana.

Last year’s score: Seahawks 27, Roadrunners 27
