‘THE FLAMENCO’

Richard MacDonald Fine Art will present a series of works by

MacDonald titled “The Flamenco.” A gallery reception will feature the

unveiling of these dramatic sculptures, as well as a performance by

dancer and choreographer Jordi Caballero, from 7 to 10 p.m. at 326

Glenneyre St. The collection will be on exhibit through Nov. 24.

GRAND OPENING

Gallery Hauptart will hold a grand opening, featuring works by

Joachim Haupt and selected sculptures of internationally known

artists. The gallery will provide wine and entertainment starting at

PENDYRUS

The Pendyrus Male Voice Choir from Wales will perform a special

concert with the Laguna Beach High School Choir. Under the direction

of John Samuel, they will perform a varied repertoire, from classical

to Broadway show tunes and from Welsh hymns to American anthems,

starting at 8 p.m. in the Artists’ Theatre, 650 Park Ave. Tickets for

adults are $12, students $8 and special choir angel reserved seats

DOGGIE BRUNCH

Wild Oats will host a special day for dogs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Your four-legged friends will have a chance to sample pet food, as

well as indulge in a free nail clipping, brushing and wash. (Dog

washes will be available for dogs 40 pounds and lighter.) Wild Oats

FOREIGN AND INDIE FILM SERIES

Regency Theatres will present “The Mesmerist,” a spooky comedy

based on an Edgar Allan Poe story and set in 1954. A doctor convinces

a dying man’s family to let him to put the man in a trance as he

takes his final breaths. The film will show at 11 a.m. today and Sunday at the Laguna South Coast Cinema, 162 S. Coast Highway. Ticket

WINE TASTING

Gallery McCollum, in conjunction with the Wine Gallery, will host

a wine-tasting and artists reception from 5 to 9 p.m. Artists Patrick

LAGUNA SHANTI BENEFIT

The Newport Beach Film Festival will host a special screening of

the film “Sordid Lives” to benefit the Laguna Shanti. The film is

about an eccentric Texas family gathering for a funeral. The film

will show at 11 a.m., followed by a special VIP party with some of

the cast and crew at the Lido Theater, 3459 Via Lido in Newport

Beach. Tickets are $10 for the screening and $25 for the screening

and party.

FAMILY STORY HOUR

Wild Oats will present high-energy storytelling with songs,

PIPE ORGAN CONCERT

Organist Randy Woltz, an associate of the American Guild of

Organists, will give a free concert at 7:30 p.m. at the First Church

of Christ, Scientist. The eclectic program will include pieces by

Bach, Joplin, Saint-Saens and Grieg. The concert will take place in

FAIRE WITH FLARE

South Coast Medical Center will open a holiday boutique. The

AFGHANISTAN WOMEN’S ISSUES

The Woman’s Club of Laguna Beach will present an open meeting and

discussion of this pressing issue from 7 to 9 p.m. The first speaker

will be Dr. Azizah Noori from Kabul. She earned her doctorate under

the hardship of the Taliban from Kabul University. The second speaker

will be Judge Abdul Hussiri from Heart, who served as a judge under

the king. He is a philanthropist serving the Afghan community. The

THE CRUCIBLE

Laguna Beach High School’s Park Avenue Players will present Arthur

Miller’s “The Crucible.” Directed by Mark Dressler and Brandon

Leighton, the play explores the parallels between Senator McCarthy

and the House Un-American Activities Committee’s crusade against

supposed communist sympathizers and the earlier horror of the Salem

witch trials. The play will show at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 14, 16, 21, 22 and

23; and at 3 p.m. Nov. 17 in the Artists’ Theatre. Tickets will be on

sale one hour before each performance. General seating is $5 for

CHILDREN IN NEED

Diane DeBilzan Gallery will celebrate it’s first anniversary with

a benefit event for the Orange County Child Abuse Prevention Center.

Artist William DeBilzan will present a new body of work specifically

for the evening and former New York City Ballet dancer, Treva Swersky

will perform. The event, co-sponsored by David Rickey Sport,

Emporio-Optic, Vertical Restaurant and Modernage Printing, will take
