Pirates fall in semis

Orange Coast College women’s basketball team outscored San Joaquin

Delta, 38-33, in the second half of the teams’ semifinal game of the

Orange Coast Tip-Off Tournament Saturday, but the Pirates (1-1)

couldn’t rebound from dismal first-half shooting and fell, 70-59, in

Peterson Gym.

The Pirates shot just 19.2% in the first half compared to the 15

for 27 (55.6%) shooting by San Joaquin Delta (2-0).

Coast made a comeback in the second half, scoring on five of 10

3-point attempts, but it wasn’t enough.

Nancy Hatsushi (17 points) and Liz Mendoza (12) led the Coast

scoring charge that also saw Alisa Carrillo notch 10 points followed

by Candice Quiroz’s eight points.
