Cats

This beautiful, long hair, gray and white female was rescued by

the “Good Citizen Neighbors” of Newport Beach, who have been feeding

the stray for more than six weeks and have been unable to find her

owner. They asked for the Community Animal Network’s help.

The cat has been groomed and examined by a veterinarian. She will

be available for adoption this weekend.

“We really hope more people will tag and microchip their pets,”

said DiAnna Pfaff-Martin, founder of the network. “Thousands of

animals lose their lives every month in Orange County shelters

because their owners cannot find their missing pets.”

Through the microchip implant system, the chip, implanted by a

veterinarian (a fee of $35 to $40), is scanned and every pet is then

identified.

In cases when identification is not possible, those pets go up for

adoption.

“We encourage everyone to adopt an adult animal and save lives,”

Pfaff-Martin said. “Wonderful adult animals are available at every

shelter.”

While 14 winter kittens found homes last weekend, Little Munchkin,

the little tabby with an injured eye, is still in need of a home.

Buttercup, who suffered a fractured pelvis, has shown some signs of

movement, but will not be available for adoption until after her full

recovery.
