INSIDE CITY HALL

GISLER CHANNEL

Planning commissioners signed off on county officials’ plans to

purchase land along the Gisler Storm Channel, saying the proposal

falls in line with the city’s general plan.

The Orange County Flood Control District is trying to buy property

along the Gisler Channel -- bordered by South Coast Drive, Harbor

Boulevard and Fairview Road -- from Caltrans for future flood

controlling methods, a staff report states.

County officials are also requesting property from parts of the

Home Ranch parcel, along the Ikea portion of the development, to get

vehicles down to the flood channel.

According to law, the flood control district must clear its plans

with Costa Mesa officials because it falls within city borders.

WHAT IT MEANS

County flood control officials have the go-ahead to buy the land

from Caltrans.
