The Red Wings capped off their season with a 6-1 win over the

Ducks in the title game of the fourth and fifth-grade roller hockey

division of the Boys & Girls Club of the Harbor Area.

The Wings had to defeat the Ducks the previous day, which they

did, 3-2, to force a second game between the two teams to decide the

championship.

In the final game, Rusty Sary led the offensive charge along with

Ian Segueira and Jake Palanjian to combine for five goals. The Red

Wings scored three goals in the final quarter to ice the game.

Goalkeeper Logan Newett led the defense and scored a goal. Brandon

Booth, Hunter Gray and Bridget Lyons also anchored a solid Wing

defense.

In the previous day’s game between the two teams:

* The Red Wings got one goal each in the second and third periods

and forced the Ducks to overtime before winning, 3-2.

The Wings were down by two goals but Sary and Palanjian scored to

force the extra quarter where Segueira found Sary for the winning

score.

Newett took over in goal for the final three quarters and didn’t

allow a goal, turning away 21 shots in the span.

Strong defense was provided by Lyons, Gray and Booth.

* In a game that saw five lead changes and go into a shootout in

overtime, the Red Wings came out victorious with an 8-6 win over the

Kings in a loser’s bracket playoff battle.

Segueira led the victors with three goals while Booth added two

scored and Sary, Palanjian and Lyons each adding one goal apiece for

the Red Wings.

The Hensley connection accounted for all Kings’ goals. Trevor

Hensley scored four goals while Taylor Hensley tallied two goals for

the fourth-place Kings.

Taylor’s goal with less than a minute to play in regulation tied

the game, 4-4, and sent it into sudden death overtime, where neither

team scored.

The game was decided in the second round of a shootout with Lyons

and Booth scoring one goal apiece while Newett shut out the Kings in

goal.

Newett and the Kings’ Joey Schuster were in net for the first

shootout round that ended in a 6-6 tie.

Trevor Hensley got the Kings off to a 1-0 lead with a goal for the

Kings in the first quarter, but no lead was safe in this game.

The Red Wings quickly responded with two tough defense from Gray

and two goals from Segueira for a 2-1 lead after two periods.

The Kings regained the lead in the third on two more goals from

Trevor, but the Kings responded with a goal each from Booth and

Segueira in the fourth period before Taylor Hensley tied it, 4-4.

In earlier playoff action:

* Red Wings 8, Rangers 2

Three goals from Segueira, two goals each from Sary and Palanjian

and one goal from Newett led the Red Wings to victory over the

Rangers.
