Brenon Smith of Huntington Beach won the Third annual Halloween

Hearse, Bug and Monster Classic Car Show Award with a 1975 Cadillac

Hearse. It was held on Oct. 27 at the Orange County Market Place. The

award was given by Dr. Demento.... Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Bryce A.

Wilkins, son of Mary and Stanley Wilkins, recently reported for duty

with 2nd Combat Engineer Battalion, 2nd Marine division, Marine Corps

Base and Camp Lejeune, N.C.... Marine Corps Pfc. Kyle L. McDonnell of

Huntington Beach, son of Ginger and Steven McDonnell, recently

completed basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego.

McDonnell and fellow recruits completed 12 weeks of training, which

consisted of physical conditioning programs, classroom and field

assignments, uniform regulations, combat water survival,

marksmanship, hand-to-hand combat, and weapons training. Upon

completion of Boot Camp the recruits were presented with the Marine

Corps Emblem and addressed as Marines for the first time....Air Force

Airman Stacy A. Pierce daughter to Christina Pierce in Huntington

Beach and Jim Pierce of Newport Beach graduated from basic military

training at Lackland Air Force Base. During the six weeks of

training, Pierce studied organization, military customs and

courtesies, performed drills and ceremony marches, physical training,

rifle marksmanship, field and special training. In addition Pierce is

able to earn credits toward an Associates through the Community

College of the Air Force.... Army Spc. James C. Mounce, a graduate of

Huntington Beach High School and son of Margaret Frese and Sam

Mounce, was decorated with the Army Commendation Medal, which is

awarded to individuals who distinguish themselves by acts of heroism,

meritorious achievements and service....Kristen Michelle Melia of

Huntington Beach is a member of Georgetown University’s Class of 2006

in the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service. Melia is a

Huntington Beach High School graduate....Marine Corps Pvt. Aaron M.

Chase, son of Lidalia M. Braga and Michael N. Chase of Huntington

Beach, completed basic training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in

San .... Azusa Pacific University announced that David S. Foster of

Huntington Beach and Deborah A. Westa of Huntington Beach each

graduated with master’s degrees in education ....Midshipman Joseph

Gallucci of Huntington Beach received a Silver Star at the U.S.

Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, N.Y., for academic

achievement during the spring term. The Silver Stars are awarded to

students with a grade-point average of 3.25 to 3.49 during an

academic semester
