UCI’s Powers first-team All-MPSF
UC Irvine senior two-meter man Jeff Powers, who led the Anteaters’
water polo team with 74 goals this season, has earned first-team
All-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation honors.
UCI sophomore Dreason Barry came away with second-team All-MPSF
laurels after scoring 66 goals. Junior Garrett Gentry, who scored 29
goals, received honorable mention recognition.
Coach Ted Newland’s Anteaters finished 16-11 overall and took
sixth in last weekend’s MPSF Championship Tournament. Stanford’s Tony
Azevedo, who led the MPSF with 90 goals, was named the MPSF Player of
the Year. Cal-Berkeley’s first-year coach, Kirk Everist, was selected
as MPSF Coach of the Year after guiding the Bears to the MPSF
Tournament title.
