Bobby Monroe’s all-around performance last Sunday keyed Laguna

Beach’s second National Junior Basketball victory of the young

season.

Monroe burned the net for 25 points and hit the glass for 10

rebounds to lead Laguna Beach’s eighth-grade All-Net team to a 54-38

victory over visiting Encinitas at Laguna Beach High.

Monroe not only did most of his scoring from close range but also

was near-perfect from the foul line, hitting nine of 10 free throw

attempts.

Point guard Ian Butters was equally as impressive, scoring 16

points to go along with five assists, three rebounds and a pair of

steals.

Butters also displayed his range by hitting two, three-point

baskets.

Patrick Curren added to the Laguna Beach attack by contributing

six points.

Nathan Pickett, Chris Hyden, Ty Fleming and Brian Delino also

scored in the attack.

Laguna Beach took control from the outset and never was

threatened, opening up a 15-7 lead after the first quarter before

extending its advantage to 27-14 at the half.

Laguna Beach, now 2-0, puts its undefeated record on the line

Sunday when it battles the 2-0 Irvine Hawks in a 4:30 p.m. tipoff at

Concordia University.
