Anteaters sparkle in Speedo Cup Invitational

UC Irvine swimmers continued sharp efforts at the UC Irvine/Speedo

Cup Invitational at Belmont Plaza Friday, the second of a three-day

meet.

Lara Bjargardottir, who was fourth in the women’s 200-yard

individual medley on Thursday (2:05.44), was third in the 200 free

(1:52.47) and fifth in the 400 individual medley (4:25.3) Friday.

Also in women’s competition was Semah Zavareh, fifth in the 500

freestyle (5:01.71) on Thursday.

In men’s competition Friday, UCI’s Gonny Shimura was third in the

100 backstroke (50.11), Attila Szilagyi was third in the 100

breaststroke (57.16) and Kevin Olson was fifth in the 400 individual

medley (4:05.29).

The meet concludes today with preliminaries at 8:30 a.m. and

finals at 6 p.m.
