Fletcher Jones Motorcars in Newport Beach announced in November

the appointment of John Song to senior sales consultant. Song, who is

fluent in four languages, will oversee the Asian/Pacific Rim division

of the Fletcher Jones’ Foreign Language Service Bureau, which was

established to serve the dealership’s growing clientele who prefer to

conduct negotiations in their native languages. The company

anticipates that Song’s strong linguistic and business management

background will serve as an asset to the company and that particular

division ... Jessica Edwards and Jonathan Marble of Newport Beach are

completing their fall 2002 semester studying in Florence, Italy,

through Syracuse University’s Division of International Programs

Abroad. The two sophomores, along with more than 600 other students,

visited historic sites in Rome, Venice, Assisi and other places. They

studied art history, studio art, architecture and Italian language

and culture while taking a wide range of courses in the liberal arts

... Former Orange Coast College President Bernard J. Luskin was named

executive vice president for institutional partnerships and director

of the new Community College Leadership Program at the Fielding

Graduate Institute in Santa Barbara. Luskin, who began his teaching

career at Costa Mesa High School, has acted as chief executive of

major media and telecommunications companies, president of Mind

Extension University and founding chancellor of Jones International

University, the first fully accredited and fully Web-based

university. The Fielding Graduate Institute serves returning adult

students and mid-career professionals ... Orange Coast College honor

student Katherine Sharif will leave in January to study at the

Sorbonne. Sharif, a history and political science major at OCC, plans

on studying in Paris for up to a year before returning to the United

States to continue her education at Stanford University, UC Berkley

or UCLA The Sorbonne was founded in the 13th century and now houses

the arts and human science faculties of the University of Paris ...

Glenn Allen Zagoren was appointed president and chief executive of

the Newport Harbor Nautical Museum on Dec. 1. Zagoren, who has moved

to Newport Beach with his wife and daughter, will now be responsible

for managing and directing all activities of the museum. Zagoren has

produced special events for the South Street Seaport Museum in New

York City, as well as the Monaco to New York Maxi Cat Yacht Race.

Museum officials say his broad experience in sailing, which includes

his award-winning racing on J-30, J-36 and J-41 class sailboats, will

be an added benefit.
