Little League signups Saturday

Huntington Valley Little League will hold the last of its four

signup sessions for the 2003 spring season Saturday at the league’s

playing fields.

Registration will be taken between noon and 4 p.m.

Boys and girls ages 5 to 16, as of July 31, 2003, who live within

the boundaries of the league are eligible to sign up.

Youngsters interested in joining the league are required to bring

an original birth certificate, proof of residency (a current utility

bill), payment for fees due (cash or check only), and an additional

$30 for family pancake breakfast tickets, to complete the

registration process.

The costs, per player, are as follows:

T-Ball Division (ages 5 and 6), $75; Little League Division (ages

7 to 12), $90, and Junior Division (ages 13 and 14), $125.

Huntington Valley won the 2002 District 62 Little League All-Star

Tournament, and league teams won the 2002 District 62 Tournament of

Champions at the Major and Minor B division levels.

In 2001, the league’s 9/10 Division All-Star team won both the

District 62 and Section 5 titles.

Wardlow Field, home of Huntington Valley Little League, is at 9191

Pioneer Ave. Major cross streets are Magnolia Street and Adams

Avenue.

City hoop signups continue

Registration continues through Jan. 11, 2003, for local boys and

girls interested in playing Huntington Beach Youth Basketball.

The league, offered through the city of Huntington Beach, is open

to youngsters in first through eighth grades.

Player registration fee is $35.

Registration will be taken at four locations: Murdy Community

Center, the City Gym and Pool and Edison Community Center.

Evaluations and practice games are scheduled for Jan. 11, 18 and 25.

Regular season games will be played on Saturdays, Feb. 1 through

March 8.

Postseason playoffs will run March 15 to 22.
