Girls I Black pulled out a 2-1 shootout victory over the Purple

Dudettes Tuesday in what was described as one of the most exciting

games of the season as Girls In Black captured the AYSO Region 120

championship.

After a scoreless tie in regulation, GIB fullback Teresa Fox

struck with a goal, and Dudette Cori Chapin answered with a goal.

With the last shot, GIB forward Stephanie Fox sent the ball into

the right corner of the net for the winning margin.

Forwards Alex Payzant, Alexa Aguilar and Abby Scheafer had solid

games for GIB, and halfbacks Kelsey Coleman, Tatiana Bush, Rebecca

Alward and Nicole Apted controlled the play in the midfield.

The Dudettes had great performances from Jessica Rubright, Daisy

Martinez and Chapin.

GIB’s defense was led by Fox, Michelle Eastman and Diana

Gutierrez. Striker Mariah Bailey and Fox kept Anderson busy in the

goal.

In girls under-14 play, the Strikers improved to 16-0 after

winning all four of their playoff games at the Regional

Championships, advancing to Wednesday’s final at Oak Creek Field in

Irvine.

Kayra Molter got her first goal of the season, as she joined

Taylor Carpenter, Emily Leece and Chantel O’Toole in the scoring.
