Holiday happenings among the books
CHECK OUT YOUR LOCAL LIBRARY
‘Tis almost the season,
But who needs a reason
To shop ‘til you drop
In “De Old Friends Book Shoppe.”
Paperbacks, hardbacks -- bargains galore!
Who could ask for anything more?
Hardbacks, a few dollars; paperbacks a few cents --
OK, now I’ve dropped enough hints.
Come on by and take a look.
We know you’ll find many a great book!
And it’s not only the Friends Book Shop that is active this time
of year. The library staff is as busy as elves getting ready for our
fourth annual Holiday Open House.
This year’s extravaganza will be celebrated from 4 to 8 p.m.
Thursday. Tiny tots to saucy seniors will enjoy craft and ornament
making and a visit from Mr. and Mrs. Santa from 4 to 6 p.m. Between 5
and 7 p.m., local author Bette Anderson will sign copies of her
newest book, “Close Ups,” a riveting mystery set in our very own
Laguna Beach.
Also during these two hours, the library will be filled with
delightful seasonal keyboard music played by our own pianist, Joan
Moreno. At 7 p.m., everyone will be invited to settle down by our
imaginary fireside to close this delightful holiday affair with the
masterful singing and storytelling of Ken Frawley.
The refreshments for this evening of gaiety will be most
generously donated by Wild Oats Market.
May I say to the Friends of the Laguna Beach Library, on behalf of
all who enjoy not only this program but all of those the Library
offers throughout the year, a very special and a very hearty thank
you!
From the entire library staff, we wish you all a joyous holiday
season.
