Let Leece step down quietly

Enough Wendy Leece already.

Maybe the masthead for the Pilot should be changed to the Daily

Wendy Leece. It’s been going on a month and a half since the

elections, and hardly a day has passed without an article, picture or

letter to the editor about her election loss -- again today, with her

picture on the front page. I’m sure she’s a nice, sweet, honorable

lady, but let’s face it, many candidates were disappointed. Most

Republicans won and most Greenlighters lost. Even though many people

still feel bad, most accept it and move on.

I can’t believe the Pilot keeps beating a dead horse about the

teachers’ union defeating Leece. I mean, how many teachers are there

compared to parents and other voters? They must be outnumbered more

than 100 to one. It takes a lot of campaigning to make a dent in

those odds.

I note that in all the praise heaped on Leece, nothing was said

about her out-of-mainstream beliefs and positions. Is it possible

that these didn’t sit too well with people who want our school kids

in the 21st century? The Pilot hasn’t mentioned anything since the

election about her -- in this day and age -- pushing for religious

“creation science” in curricula when she was a school board member.

Anyway, how about a vacation from daily Wendy Leece fare?

Wendy Leece has been on your pages pretty continuously for the

past two months, and I think it is time to let her go. Leece’s tenure

on the Newport-Mesa board was often mean-spirited, divisive and

characterized by a desire for publicity rather than genuine problem

solving. The voters decided that our schools are better off with her

on the sidelines. Let’s move on.

Wendy Leece has sour grapes.

Thank God, Newport-Mesa teachers were doing what they should do in

advocating education for children. Teachers are awesome. I so admire

them for their education, concern, hard work and success. These

educators teach the future leaders of America. They really do have

the best interest of children at heart. I back this teachers’ union

100%.

They did an excellent job of getting the message out. Hurray.

Please, no more stories about Wendy Leece. The voters voiced their

opinion and she lost the election. Now get on with life and make our

schools the best in the United States. Hire the most educated

teachers and have the latest in technology and teach our children how

to read and write and use their imagination and creativity.
