Need a last minute gift? Try the surgical supply

Newport Center Orthopedic Medical and Surgical Supplies carries

unusual gifts. Since 1967, owner Stella Chavos has supplied special

needs items that can be hard to find.

There’s the largest selection of canes and walking sticks from all

over the world. Hand-carved canes from Africa, Italy and England are

just a few of the choices. Even folding canes for travelers and canes

that have a seat. Prices range from $12.95 to $695.

There are walkers in various colors with wheels and seats, an

assortment of walker and wheelchair tote bags, back support and seat

cushions, and lift chairs for those who need comfortable support for

the home and traveling.

To help prevent ankles and feet from swelling during pregnancy or

anytime, there is a full line of gradient compression hosiery. Other

items available include magnifying glasses, heat and cold packs,

pillows for sleeping and travel, ear plugs, arthritic relief gloves

and socks for diabetics. Complimentary custom gift wrap and shipping

is available.

a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. The store will be closed at 2 p.m. Christmas

NEED LIGHTS?

If you still need holiday lights, I love the selection at Roger’s

Gardens. It carries a Private Label light that has a 40% brighter

bulb than most brands. Even better, if one bulb burns out, the strand

will stay lit. Each strand has 105 lights mounted on heavy gauge wire

and comes with a three-year guarantee.

The latest additions to Roger’s lights are the Starlight Spheres,

which look like shimmering stars. The spheres, which can be placed

indoors or outside, come in three sizes and five colors -- blue,

amber, green, purple and red. The strands cost $12.99 to $26.99.

Roger’s Gardens is at 2301 San Joaquin Hills Road in Newport

Beach. Call (949) 640-5800, or check out www.rogersgardens.com.
