GIRLS SOCCER: Santa Margarita High’s Eagles were 2-1 winners over

host Newport Harbor in nonleague girls soccer Friday.

Kate Younglove scored Harbor’s only goal just four minutes into

the game, unassisted, and it held up through halftime.

Santa Margarita (4-3-1) tied it in the 48th minute on an Amy

Rodriguez goal, and seven minutes later got the winner as Cari

Egertson scored.

Junior Kara DeMille had six saves for the Sailors.

The loss drops Newport to 0-5-1.

CdM tied up, 1-1, at El Toro

BOYS: Host El Toro High rallied to earn a 1-1 nonleague boys soccer tie with Corona del Mar Friday.

Chris Ringstrom put the Sea Kings (4-1-1) on top, converting an

But the Chargers answered in the 36th minute and neither team

could manage any offense from there.

CdM goalie Jay Zimmerman had seven saves and El Toro keeper Kevin

Foley had five.

The Sea Kings are off until Dec. 26, when they battle Saddleback

in the Trabuco Hills Tournament.
