Wizards best the Sparks, 28-19

The Wizards defeated the Sparks, 28-19, in the second week of

action for third- and fourth-grade girls in the Newport-Mesa National

Junior Basketball league.

Brooke Lux had 12 points and Saylor Schroff added eight points for

the Wizards, who got help from the defense of Cassidy Stratton. Duran

Sharp led the Sparks with six points.

* The Lakers defeated the Sparks, 10-7 in the second game.

Elika Fateri and Kelsey Carrido scored three points each for the

Lakers while Mary McKenna tallied three points for the Magic.

* The Newport Golden Hawks defeated the first-place Irvine

Eagles, 22-12.

Ellie Nadal scored 13 points and Addie Richley (five) and Olivia

Tharp (four) added to the Hawks’ point total. Chelsea Barth played

strong defense.

Christina Pelekoudas led Irvine with six points.
