Corona del Mar High seniors John Mann and Artie Dorr, who shared

Pacific Coast League MVP honors, as well as CdM senior goalie Beau

Stockstill and Newport Harbor junior Michael Bury, have been named

first-team All-CIF Division I by Southern Section boys water polo

coaches.

The talented foursome is among 10 Back Bay standouts to earn

All-CIF recognition.

Newport Harbor seniors Ross Sinclair and Nathan Weiner join CdM

senior Jason DiRocco on the second team, while CdM seniors Ryan Moore

and John Money, as well as Newport Harbor senior Jay Thompson, are

third-team honorees.

Mann, a first-team pick in Division II in 2001, scored 109 goals

and added 26 assists and 19 steals to help the Sea Kings advance to

the Division I title game, where they fell to top-seeded and unbeaten

Long Beach Wilson, 14-11.

Dorr shared CIF Division II Player of the Year honors with

teammate Michael March as a junior and was also a first-team All-CIF

pick as a sophomore, helping the Sea Kings with Division II

championships both years. This fall, the two-meter man produced 67

goals, 46 assists and 29 steals for Coach Tim Salvino.

Stockstill recorded 272 saves, 35 steals and 13 assists for the

PCL champions, who finished 20-8, including playoff triumphs over

Long Beach Poly, Foothill and Harvard-Westlake.

Bury amassed 90 goals, 26 steals and 10 assists for Coach Jason

Lynch’s Sailors, who followed a perfect Sea View League championship

campaign by reaching the Division I quarterfinals. Bury was

third-team All-CIF in 2001.

Sinclair, this year’s Sea View Player of the Year, finished with

51 goals, 63 steals and 60 assists. A second-team All-CIF honoree in

2001, he helped the Tars produce a 19-10 record.

Weiner, a first-team All-CIF performer as a junior, had 56 goals,

61 steals and 21 assists this season for the Sailors, while DiRocco

collected 46 goals, 63 steals and 49 assists for CdM.

Thompson had 34 goals, 34 assists and 79 steals for Newport, which

was eliminated when El Toro scored with 11 seconds left to take a 9-8

decision.

Money collected 21 goals, 37 steals and 21 assists, while Moore

contributed 14 goals, 22 steals and 17 assists to the CdM cause.

Long Beach Wilson senior Thomas Hale is the Division I Player of

the Year after leading the Bruins to a 31-0 season, including four

wins over CdM. Wilson has now won five of the last six Division I

titles and six of the last eight.
