Sage Hill belts El Monte, 59-45

Sage Hill School was a 59-45 boys basketball winner over El Monte

High in the seventh-place game at the Garden Grove Tournament

Saturday, improving to 3-7 with the victory.

Michael Fitzhugh led the way with 35 points and Kevin Joyce scored

20 points in a game marked by a 36-19 second-half spurt by the

Lightning.

Sage Hill returns to action Jan. 3, hosting Anaheim-based Rio

Contiguo.

In high school girls basketball Saturday, Costa Mesa was a forfeit

winner over Inglewood in the Artesia Tournament.
