Charities benefit from bear sales

Robinsons-May stores are donating a dollar of each “centennial”

teddy bear sold to various charities. The Costa Mesa store at South

Coast Plaza will donate its funds to the Orange County chapter of

ChildHelp USA in Costa Mesa.

May Department Stores Co. expects to raise about $400,000

nationwide. Each of the three collectible bears sells for $15.99 with

a purchase of $25 or more.

No trash pickup on Christmas Day

Trash will not be collected in Newport Beach on Wednesday and Jan.

1. Residential trash will instead be collected on Thursday and Jan.

2, respectively.

Street sweeping in the city will also be delayed.
