DEC. 24

* Cliff Drive/North Coast Highway: Police responded to a call

about a man passed out in the street near the intersection at 5:11

a.m. The man, who suffered from schizophrenia and bipolar disorder,

was transported to Mission Hospital.

* Lower Cliff Drive: A resident reported a rollaway vehicle that

was blocking traffic in the 200 block at 6:28 a.m.

* Club Drive: An officer assisted a stranded motorist in the 300

block at 6:06 p.m. The car had broken down in the fast lane.

* Camel Point Drive/South Coast Highway: Police responded to a

traffic collision near the intersection at 8:45 p.m. The driver, a

37-year-old Capistrano Beach resident, hit a parked car and was

bleeding from a small laceration to her chin. She was later arrested

on suspicion for driving under the influence and possession of

marijuana in a vehicle.

DEC. 25

* Paso del Sur: A resident reported that an unknown person rang

her door bell in the 22000 block at 1:32 a.m. She then saw two people

walking through her back yard.

* Ocean Way: Officers arrived at a home in the 1000 block at 5:16

a.m. to keep the peace. Three family members were fighting over

leaving the sliding glass door open for the cat.

* Police Department: A dog was turned in at 12:15 p.m. The dog

had been found in Oceanside but wore Laguna Beach tags. He was

transported to the animal shelter.

DEC. 26

* Park Avenue: A resident reported smoke from the high school in

the 600 block at 8 a.m. The smoke was from construction work.

* South Coast Highway: Police responded to a security alarm in

the 31000 block at 10:10 a.m. It was caused by the dogs.

* Cozumel: A concerned family member asked an officer to enter a

home when a relative failed to show up at Christmas festivities in

the 200 block at 9:26 a.m. The officer discovered that the

47-year-old resident had passed away.

* Park Avenue: Graffiti was reported on the external walls of the

gymnasium in the 600 block at 3:05 p.m.

FRIDAY

* Dunning Drive: A resident reported that someone had stolen a

“Keep Out” sign from the property in the 1000 block at 9:23 a.m.

* Mountain View Drive: A resident reported that someone had

broken into his home in the 2000 block at 10:42 a.m. He told police

that as he was driving down his driveway he noticed a blue vase that

was supposed to have been in the living room, a blue gift bag that

was supposed to have been under the Christmas tree and two bottles of

beer. Police were not able to find the point of entry.

* Forest Avenue: Someone walked into a business and stole a purse

that had been stowed behind the counter in the 200 block at 2:26 p.m.

* Carmelita Street: A resident reported that telephone wires were

hanging from a transformer down the street in the 1800 block at 3:47

p.m.

* Legion Street: A resident claimed that someone had stolen his

clothes from the Laundromat in the 300 block at 4:57 p.m.

* Laguna Canyon Road: A vehicle spun out in the roadway in the

2000 block at 8:15 p.m. No other vehicles were hit.

* Montage Resort Drive/South Coast Highway: Police arrested a

55-year-old Indiana resident on suspicion of driving under the

influence and possession of marijuana near the intersection at 7:29

p.m.

* Monterey Street/North Coast Highway: An officer conducted a

traffic stop near the intersection at 9:56 p.m. A juvenile was cited

for possession of marijuana and was taken home by his mother.

* South Coast Highway/Camel Point Drive: A 27-year-old Tustin

resident was arrested on suspicion for driving under the influence

near the intersection at 11:39 p.m.

SATURDAY

* South Coast Highway: A bar owner called police after a fight

broke out, claiming “people were going nuts” in the 1100 block at

12:55 a.m.

* South Coast Highway: Police responded to a fight between five

men and a tow truck driver in the 700 block at 2:08 a.m. Police

arrested a 28-year-old Santa Cruz resident on an outstanding warrant

for skateboarding on private property.

* Laguna Canyon/El Toro roads: Police responded to a traffic

collision near the intersection at 4:22 a.m. They arrested a

22-year-old Irvine man on suspicion of driving under the influence

after he struck a light pole.

* South Coast Highway: A resident reported an elderly man

undressing in public in the 600 block at 11:31 a.m.

* South Coast Highway/Third Avenue: Police responded to a triple

rear-ender near the intersection at 2:50 p.m. The three drivers

complained of pain and were taken to the hospital. One dog was taken

to the animal shelter.

SUNDAY

* Brooks Street Beach: A resident reported that he had been

pick-pocketed on the staircase at the beach at 12:48 a.m. He had been

walking down the stairs when someone brushed up against him and took

his wallet from his back pocket. The person then ran away. The total

loss was $105.

* South Coast Highway/Mountain Road: A hit-and-run was reported

near the intersection at 3:32 p.m. Someone backed out of a parking

space and hit another parked car. The case is under investigation.

* Bent Street: Police responded to a woman screaming from her

balcony in the 400 block at 5:21 p.m. Officers tried to calm her down

because no one wanted to sign a formal complaint. A neighbor called

police again at 8:27 p.m. willing to file a report.

MONDAY

* La Brea Street: A resident reported that two men were stalking

her in the 200 block at 9:50 a.m. An officer contacted them and

discovered they were Newport Beach Police officers investigating a

case that did not involve the caller.

* Legion Street: A resident reported that a little boy was

walking with a long-haired man in the 300 block at 8:57 p.m. It

turned out to be a father walking his son, who couldn’t sleep.
