Kristen Green’s season-high 17 points led UC Irvine’s women’s

basketball team to a 72-43 Big West Conference victory over Cal State

Fullerton Thursday at the Bren Events Center.

The 29-point victory is the fourth largest in the series record

and the most by UCI this season. The Titans’ 43 points is the fewest

points allowed by the Anteaters this year. This is the

12th-consecutive win for UCI over Fullerton. UCI improves to 8-5, 1-1

in the Big West.

The Titans are 3-10, 1-2.

After trailing by one at the 3:10 mark, UCI went on a 13-1 run to

go into halftime with a 33-24 lead. The Anteaters, who built a

15-point lead in the first four minutes of the half, watched the

Titans get as close as 10 (43-33) with 14:38 minutes remaining. Cal

State Fullerton managed three more points before going on a 10-minute

draught.

UCI’s Green was 7 for 17 from the floor and added eight rebounds.

Christina Callaway recorded her fifth double-double of the year with

13 points and 13 rebounds. Lisa Faulkner was 4 for 8 from three-point

range, ending the evening with 14 points and four assists in 27

minutes of action. Ashley Biggins came off the bench to grab 10

rebounds.

Rochelle Ortega paced Cal State Fullerton with 10 points. Heather

Hansen had eight rebounds, four points and three blocked shots.

After shooting just 28.2 (11-39) in the first half, the Anteaters

fired 48.5 (16-33) in the second half compared to the Titans 28.0

(7-25). UCI tied a season-high with 52 rebounds.
