OCC women win, 55-47

The Orange Coast College women’s basketball team recorded its 12th

straight win and second straight Orange Empire Conference victory

after a 55-47 triumph over visiting Riverside City Friday.

The Pirates (17-3, 2-0 in the OEC) built a 30-13 halftime lead, as

they held the Tigers to a dismal 17.9% shooting from the field (5 of

28). Riverside outscored OCC, 34-25, in the second half, but could

not overcome its poor first-half shooting.

In the men’s game, OCC fell to 1-1 in the OEC following a 90-78

defeat at the hands of visiting Riverside.

The Pirates (12-6, 1-1 in the OEC) were outdone by a 13-0 run

early in the second half.

Stephon Seales connected for his only basket with 17:30 to go to

make it 46-41 but the Pirates missed their next nine shots to fall

behind, 59-41, with 11:39 remaining.
