Anteaters in final against UCLA

UC Irvine’s men’s volleyball team was embroiled in a championship

duel with UCLA Saturday night at the UC Santa Barbara Tournament.

Final results, however, were unavailable at press time.

The Anteaters qualified for the finals with a five-game victory

the host Santa Barbara Gauchos in the second round on Saturday,

posting a 30-23, 28-30, 30-27, 27-30, 15-7 victory for their fourth

straight victory without defeat.

Nic Vislay had 15 kills, Jimmy Pelzel, Jarrett Jensen and Monte

Tucker each had 13 kills and Kyle Wichert had 12 kills. David Kniffin

was credited with 64 assists.

Vislay had just one error and a .609 percentage.

UCLA swept Cal State Northridge, 30-25, 30-18, 30-21, to advance

to the final in Robertson Gym.
