* Laguna Canyon Road/73 Toll Road: Officers were contacted by a

57-year-old Milpitas man who wanted them to call a cab so he and his

girlfriend could get home safely. The cab driver later contacted

officers when the man and his girlfriend refused to get into the cab.

Officers stopped them near the intersection at 12:28 a.m. and

arrested a 42-year-old Trabuco Canyon woman on suspicion of drunk

driving. The man was arrested for public intoxication.

* South Coast Highway: A business owner reported a commercial

burglary in the 1900 block at 7:54 a.m. Someone gained access through

a window and stole a computer server, a laptop and a palm pilot.

Total loss $19,542.

* El Toro Road/Club Drive: Officers responded to a three-car

collision near the intersection at 1:11 p.m. No injuries were

reported, but the driver who rear-ended the first car was cited for

driving at an unsafe speed.

* South Coast Highway: A business owner reported that someone

took four necklaces and fled in the 1500 block at 4:17 p.m. Total

value $4,800.

* South Coast Highway/St. Ann’s Drive: After conducting a traffic

stop, an officer arrested a 41-year-old Laguna Beach man for a parole

violation near the intersection at 5:26 p.m.

JAN. 9

* South Coast Highway: Police dispatchers received a 911 call and

heard an argument in the background. They sent officers to

investigate in the 1600 block at 12:31 a.m. A female hotel guest

claimed that her friend was drunk and banging on her door. Officers

advised both of them to stay in their room. Thirty minutes later,

officers were called back and arrested a 21-year-old El Cajon man for

public intoxication.

* North Coast Highway: Officers responded to a two-car collision

in the 300 block at 7:46 a.m. No injuries were reported.

* Samoa Way: A resident reported that a dirt digger fell over

onto the driveway in the 1400 block at 10:30 a.m. No injuries were

reported, but Southern California Edison was advised that the machine

took out a box on its way down.

* Forest Avenue: Two employees contacted police for an escort

because they were afraid to walk to their cars while a homeless man

was standing outside in the 200 block at 10:17 p.m.

FRIDAY

* Laguna Canyon Road/73 Toll Road: Officers responded to a

traffic collision involving a vehicle and a bike near the

intersection at 7:57 a.m. The driver said that he had been trying to

pass a slower-moving vehicle when the lanes merged. The other vehicle

caused him to swerve into the bike lane, where he struck a bicyclist.

The bicyclist complained of abrasions and pain. The driver was cited

for unsafe passing

* El Toro Road/73 Toll Road: A driver reported smoke in the area

at 12:53 p.m. No fires were discovered.

* Alta Vista Way: A resident reported that someone hit his car

sometime in the night in the 600 block at 3:10 p.m. His car had been

parked in front of his home. No one witnessed the collision.

* Juanita Way: A resident reported that a post office truck was

on fire in the 2000 block at 5:24 p.m. Fire fighters responded and

put the fire out at 5:35 p.m.

* Broadway: An officer performed a traffic stop in the 300 block

at 6:46 p.m. A 42-year-old Dana Point woman was arrested on a warrant

for unlawful taking of a vehicle.

* South Coast Highway: A driver called police when a female

driver rear-ended his car and fled in the 1740 block at 6:04 p.m.

Officers arrested a 48-year-old Laguna Beach woman on suspicion of

driving under the influence.

* South Coast Highway: An officer was called to a restaurant in

the 300 block at 1:35 a.m. when staff reported that a woman had

stolen a purse and then tried to hide in the men’s room. A

21-year-old Laguna Beach woman was arrested on suspicion of public

intoxication, possession of a controlled substance and possession of

drug paraphernalia.

SATURDAY

* South Coast Highway: Hotel staff called police when a man

refused to leave the lobby in the 400 block at 2:45 a.m. A

30-year-old Laguna Beach man was arrested on suspicion of public

intoxication. Police contacted his parole officer, who requested that

he be transported to Santa Ana Jail on a parole hold.

* South Coast Highway: A resident reported a hawk in a gutter in

the 32000 block at 10:27 a.m. It flew away before animal services

could respond.

* North Coast Highway: A store manager reported that four to five

juveniles were smashing shopping carts in a parking lot at 10:38 p.m.

* South Coast Highway: A resident reported that the neighbors

were making too much noise in their Jacuzzi in the 1600 block at

11:48 p.m. When he called to ask them to get out, they refused.

SUNDAY

* Broadway: A man reported that someone stole his unattended

jacket and wallet in the 200 block at 2:43 a.m.

* San Tropez Court: A resident reported that someone was stealing

clothes from an apartment laundry room in the 100 block at 10:45 a.m.

* Cypress Street/Rosa Bonheur Drive: A resident reported two

missing juveniles from the area at 3:20 p.m. An officer found them

and drove them back home.

* Canyon Acres Drive/Laguna Canyon Road: An officer performed a

traffic stop and arrested a 38-year-old Laguna Beach man for

providing false information to a police officer and driving on a

suspended license near the intersection at 10:01 p.m.

MONDAY

* Catalina Street: A woman called police when her husband went

outside to yell at a speeding vehicle in the 1000 block at 8:06 a.m.

When officers arrived, the driver claimed the man banged his shoe

against the car window. All parties were counseled.

* Viejo Street: A resident reported a vehicle burglary in the 200

block at 8:52 a.m. Someone broke into the camper shell of his truck

and stole a CD changer, CDs, a surf board, a stereo, a wet suit and

basketball shoes sometime between Dec. 20 and Jan. 4, when the victim

had been on vacation. The total loss was $2,450.

* Center Street: A resident reported that one of the neighbors

placed a sign on the lawn stating that animals would be poisoned in

the 300 block at 9:01 a.m.

* Chiquita Street: A woman reported that the mother of a man she

just met threatened her with physical violence in the 200 block at 11

a.m. It turned out that the man was married.

* Paso del Sur: A resident reported that a housekeeper stole

jewelry, cash and wine in the 21000 block at 11:31 a.m. The

housekeeper confessed and returned some of the items. Total loss

$5,400. The case is under investigation.

* Baja Street: A resident reported that someone smeared dog feces

on the door and lawn in the 1000 block at 7:06 p.m.

TUESDAY

* Park Avenue: A school custodian called police when two black

labs strayed into the school in the 2100 block at 8:45 a.m. The

custodian tied them up and an animal services officer took them into

custody.

* South Coast Highway: A driver reported a man mooning traffic in

the 1600 block at 2:10 p.m. Officers were unable to find a suspect.

* Laguna Canyon/El Toro roads: A driver called in a reckless

driver in the intersection at 10:42 p.m. Officers caught up with the

driver and arrested a 35-year-old Laguna Beach man on suspicion of

driving under the influence.
