CdM belts University, 5-1

Corona del Mar High’s girls soccer team scored five times in the

first half and never looked back en route to a 5-1 Pacific Coast

League victory at University High Tuesday afternoon.

Alivia Mazura stood out with two goals and two assists as Corona

del Mar improved to 6-3-1, 3-0-0 in the PCL.

It took but six minutes for CdM to get on the boards with a Rachel

Yelsey score off an assist from Paige Janes.

Mazura scored five minutes later off an assist from Elisha Morgan,

and in the 19th minute, Lauren Loe was credited with a goal when

University tried to kick out from deep in its territory and the ball

landed in the net.

Mazura scored in the 34th minute off an assist from her sister,

Jessica, and in the 37th minute, Alivia Mazura’s corner kick set up

Paige Janes’ score.

Goaltender Tanisha Senaratne was relatively stranded, but did come

up with two saves.

CdM is at Calvary Chapel Thursday.

Elsewhere in high school girls soccer Tuesday:

Costa Mesa 9, Westminster 0: Costa Mesa, ranked No. 2 in CIF

Southern Section Division III, continued its victory tour through the

Golden West League with a 9-0 triumph at Westminster.

The Mustangs (12-1-2, 6-0 in league) have now outscored Golden

West foes, 47-3.

Freshman Jasmin Day had two goals and two assists, senior Sharon

Day added one goal and three assists and sophomore Jenny Sparks

chipped in two goals and two assists for the winners.

Rachel Ronquillo had a goal and an assist, while Toshia Bryant,

Devin Denman and Vera Gale all had single goals for the Mustangs.

Valerie Gomez and Stacy Krikorian added assists for the visitors,

who posted their fourth shutout. Goalies Kaitlyn Gentling and Kindra

Bailey (two saves) split time to keep the Lions (2-8-2, 1-4) off the

scoreboard.

Newport Harbor 4, Laguna Hills 1: The Sailors improved to 2-1-1 in

the Sea View League as they tuned up for Thursday’s 5 p.m. match at

Woodbridge.

Amy Klippert opened the scoring when her cross was kicked into the

Laguna Hills goal, and Tricia Orth took a cross from Stephanie

Lambarkis and connected with 21:41 spent.

Kate Younglove got the next two goals, one off a Klippert assist,

and the final unassisted from outside.

The Sailors, 4-7-5 overall, outshot Laguna Hills, 8-1.

Kara DeMille and Lilja Addeman shared goaltending duties.
