Sailors lose 52-38 decision

Newport Harbor High’s girls basketball team lost the battle of the

boards and Foothill High’s host Knights took advantage en route to a

52-38 Sea View League victory Tuesday night.

The Sailors, who held their own well into the second half, could

not solve Foothill’s inside game and fell to 11-12, 1-5 in league

play. Foothill improved to 4-2 in the league standings.

Jillianne Whitfield led Newport Harbor with 12 points and seven

rebounds, and Lindsey Woller had seven boards.

The Sailors return to league play Friday night at Aliso Niguel

with a 6 o’clock start preceding the boys’ game
