With its entire lineup contributing to the cause, Laguna Beach’s

eighth-grade All-Net boys’ team routed El Modena Hills, 58-32, in a

National Junior Basketball game played at Laguna Beach High.

Six players scored for Laguna, which improved its overall record

to 6-1.

Bobby Monroe led the balanced attack, his strong, inside game

yielding 19 points and 11 rebounds.

Guard Ian Butters’ outstanding, all-around effort included 15

points -- which included three three-point baskets -- seven assists,

four rebounds and three steals.

With Butters directing Laguna’s transition game and Monroe

pounding the boards, Laguna raced to an 18-7 first quarter lead and

doubled up on El Modena Hills by halftime, 32-16.

Monroe and Butters were not the only big guns for Laguna.

Brian Delino added eight points, five rebounds and a pair of

assists. Nathan Picket had eight points and four rebounds. Chris

Hyden finished with four points, four assists and three rebounds.

Brennan Healy and Patrick Curran each grabbed five rebounds and

scored two points. Ty Fleming came up with four assists and two

rebounds.

Laguna will try to keep the momentum going on Sunday when the

squad travels to Encinitas for an 11:45 a.m. tipoff at La Costa

Canyon High.
