PEREZ BENEFIT

There’s a benefit concert for Darnell Perez, wife of Jimmy Perez,

the bass player for Laguna-based Missiles of October. Darnell Perez

has fourth-stage T-cell lymphoma and needs a stem cell procedure.

Missiles of October, Common Sense and others will play. The concert,

silent auction and raffle will be at the Coach House, 33157 Camino

Capistrano in San Juan Capistrano, which is donating the space.

Tickets are $25 each, and the doors open at 6:30 p.m. Information and

A TASTE OF WINE

JAZZ ENSEMBLE

The award-winning Laguna Beach High School Jazz Ensemble will hold

its ninth annual Blues and Jazz Festival, featuring Thelma Jones with

John Heussenstamm and the Land of Jam at 7:30 p.m. at the Artists’

Theater on 625 Park Ave. Tickets are $25 reserved, $15 general and

$10 students. Proceeds benefit the Laguna Beach High School Music

HAUPT BOOK SIGNING

German-born artist Joachim Haupt will be having a book signing

WINE TASTING AND SILENT AUCTION

Len’s Wine Cite will host a fund-raising event to benefit Laguna

Beach High School’s boys’ and girls’ soccer teams from 6 to 8 p.m. at

per person and includes one beverage and a raffle ticket.

MARION MEYER

Marion Meyer Contemporary Art gallery and the California

Choreographers Dance Festival will present a collaborative event

featuring 9-year-old Native American Flute prodigy Evren Ozan,

choreographer and dancer Kimberly Bixler Leeds and abstract

impressionist artist Eva Carter, who will combine their talents.

Leeds will use the paintings as her inspiration for movements and

will dance to the Evren’s musical interpretation of Artist Carter’s

FREE MUSIC

Laguna College of Art and Design will resume its “First Sundays”

free music concert from 1 to 4:30 p.m., with the concert from 3 to

4:30 p.m. There will be an exhibition of students’ latest works and a

performance by Laguna Beach Live! featuring pianist Dorothy

Schechtir. The college is at 7777 Laguna Canyon Road.

PATRIOTS DAY BRUNCH

The 37th annual Laguna Beach Patriots Day Parade will host a

brunch at Tivoli Terrace at 650 Laguna Canyon Road from 11 a.m. to 1

p.m. to honor Grand Marshal retired Fire Capt. Eugene D’Isabella,

Patriot of the Year Don Black, Citizens of the Year Marilyn and Les

Thomas, and Junior Citizens Liz Nelson and Nathan Greene. Brunch is

WORLDLY YOGA

Wild Oats will host a lecture by Steven Sadlier on “Yogas of the

World” at 6 p.m. Sadlier, founder of the Self Awareness Institute and

a master yoga instructor, will give an overview of the various forms

of yoga and meditation. The lecture will take place at 283 Broadway.

FIFTH YEAR OF ART WALK

First Thursday’s Art Walk celebrates its 5-year anniversary with

the Art Walk from 6 to 9 p.m. and a post-party at the Festival of

Arts grounds at 650 Laguna Canyon Road. There will be exciting live

performances following enjoying some of the best art in the world at

the 36 plus participating Art Walk galleries.

NO SQUARE SHOW

No Square Theatre is having their winter concert “And the World

Goes Around.” Featuring a funny romantic selection of songs by

renowned American songwriters John Kander and Fred Ebb. Favorites

from “Cabaret,” “Funny Lady,” “Chicago,” “Zorba” and “Kiss of the

Spider Woman” will be performed. The show is today and tomorrow at 8

YOUTH THEATER

The Laguna Playhouse Youth Theatre will present their

award-winning show “The Wrestling Season.” It’s a provocative new

drama about high school students search for identity amid relentless

peer pressure and destructive rumors. Performances are at 7:30 Feb.

7, at 2:30 and 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 8 and at 1 and 5 p.m. Feb. 9.

Tickets are $17 for adults and $15 for children age 5 to 13. Children

under 5 are not admitted.

SENIOR FUND-RAISER

The Laguna Beach Seniors, Inc. will have its first fund-raising

dinner at Villa Romana Trattoria at 303 Broadway. The cost is $20

plus tax and gratuity per person with the restaurant donating $10 of

the proceeds per person to the organization to help their effort to

build a Senior Center in Laguna Beach. The price includes soup or

salad, a choice of four Italian entrees and a choice of nonalcoholic

beverage. To purchase tickets payment should be made out to Laguna

Beach Seniors, Inc. and mailed with your address and phone number to

P.O. Box 536, Laguna Beach, CA 92652. Tickets will be sent by mail.

Reservations for dinner are between 4:30 and 9 p.m. and can be made

at the restaurant after ticket purchase. There are no tickets sold on

ART FOR AIDS II

A Benefit for Laguna Art Museum and AIDS Services Foundation

Orange County includes celebrities Elizabeth Taylor, Michael Jackson,

Penny Marshall, Annette Bening, Warren Beatty, Tom Petty, Barry

Manilow and Suzanne Sommers. There is a Gala Dinner with the

celebrity guests which is $2000 per person or a Pacific Ballroom

celebration for $135 per person. The event is at the St. Regis

Monarch Beach Resort in Dana Point. There will be food from top

Laguna Beach restaurants and plenty of entertainment Brazilian jazz

COMMUNITY CONCERT

The Laguna Community Concert is performing a free

patriotic/American music concert at 3 p.m. at the Laguna Beach High

School’s Artists Theater. The concert will feature Native American

flutists Evren Ozan, Greg White on the native drums as well as other

exciting happenings. Emmy and Peabody winner Bob Henry will emcee the
