* AYSO ALL-STARS: Lauren Terry scored three goals in two

victories for the Newport Beach Breakers last weekend.

The Area Q girls under-10 Silver All-Star soccer team defeated

North Irvine, 1-0, and downed Yorba Linda, 3-1, to move into sole

possession of first place ahead of second-place Costa Mesa.

Yorba Linda took a 1-0 lead before Terry scored her first of two

goals to make it, 1-1, at halftime.

Strong midfield play by Courtney McIntosh, Lexi Jenkins, Tempest

Blaine and Josie Jogwe allowed the Breakers to take control in the

second half with another goal by Terry and Shannon Boler’s insurance

score in the fourth quarter.

Christy Olhaver had three saves in goal.

Terry scored in the first quarter to put the Breakers up, 1-0,

against Yorba Linda and that’s the way it stayed.

Sweeper Kelly Rorden alongside marking backs Monique Conant and

Claire Castillo kept possession of the ball in the Irvine half and

denied shots on goal.

A victory this weekend at Kaiser Elementary would give the

Breakers their third straight girls under-10 Area Q championship.
