Costa Mesa software company wins award

Costa Mesa-based FileNet Corporation was named Software Company of

the Year by the Software Council of Southern California last week.

The awards were announced at the ninth annual Software Industry

Awards ceremony at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles.

FileNet helps organizations in more than 90 countries manage the

content and processes that drive their business.

The Software Council of Southern California comprises executives

and managers from the region’s information technology industry.

Tweeter will open Costa Mesa store

Tweeter, a specialty consumer electronics retailer, is scheduled

to open shop in Costa Mesa during the first week of March. The store

will be at 1835 Newport Blvd. in the Costa Mesa Courtyards just

across from Triangle Square.

This will be the company’s first store in Orange County. The store

will have 14 employees and feature a range of mid- to high-end

electronic products, including large screen digital televisions, DVD

players, digital video satellite systems and digital camcorders.

Tweeter has 15 other stores in Riverside, San Bernardino and San

Diego counties. The company plans to open two stores in Columbia,

S.C. and Saratoga Springs, N.Y. Tweeter Home Entertainment Group was

founded in 1972. The company earned $796 million in 2002.
