Laguna Outreach Community Arts will hold a workshop as part of its

weekly Art Escapes program. Artist Jan Sattler will led the excursion

during which participants will create a simple field journal. The

BABYSAFE

South Coast Medical Center will host a safety workshop for parents

and caretakers. Participants will hear how to choose and use a car

seat, drowning prevention, hands-on infant choking and CPR training

HOW TO WORK

IN THE GARDEN

Friends of the Hortense Miller Garden will hold the annual

membership meeting at 6:30 p.m. in the Wells Fargo Bank building, 260

Ocean Ave. At about 7 p.m., Bob Denman will give a talk, “How to work

in the garden now that you’re not 20 years old and strong as an ox.”

Denman is co-owner with his wife, Rita, of Denman and Company,

purveyor of fine tools and of the Orangery, a nursery specializing in

ANNUAL MEETING

The Laguna Greenbelt, Inc. will hold its annual meeting at 7:30

MEMORY LOSS AND AGING

South Coast Medical Center will host a seminar titled, “Memory

Loss and Aging: What’s Normal, What’s Not?” at 12:30 p.m. Dr. Edwards

Smith will discuss the different types of dementia such as

Alzheimer’s and what is normal memory loss as you age. He’ll also

give tips on how to improve your memory no matter what your age. The

OF YOGA FOR WOMEN

BREASTFEEDING CLASS

South Coast Medical Center will host a breastfeeding class from

6:30 to 9:30 p.m. A certified lactation specialist will answer

questions about positioning, milk supply, soreness, pumping and milk

storage and more. Fathers, grandmothers and other support persons are

encouraged to attend. Participants should bring a doll and pillow to

help with proper positioning techniques. Reservations are required.

PTA COFFEE BREAK

“Get to Know What’s Really Going on with Drug and Alcohol Use in

Laguna” will be the focus of the meeting. A panel of local experts

will speak including, Chief Jim Spreine of the Laguna Beach Police

Department; Jenny Salberg, assistant principal at Laguna Beach High

School; Gretchen Ernsdorf, guidance counselor at Laguna Beach High

School; Cheryl Kinsman, Laguna Beach City Councilwoman; and Brian

Haney, who runs the new drug testing program. The meeting will take

As part of National Eating Disorder Awareness Week, South Coast

The Laguna Beach Chapter of Surfrider Foundation will meet at 7

IT’S YOUR ESTATE

The SchoolPower Endowment and Capital Fund, the Laguna Canyon

Foundation, and the American Red Cross will sponsor an eight-week

educational workshop that will cover whether the new estate tax law

is helpful or not, the disadvantages of a living trust, and how to

obtain “must have” health care legal documents for less than $5.00.

The sessions will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. every Tuesday through

June 4 in the third floor community room at the Wells Fargo Building,
