WHAT HAPPENED:
The board delayed the approval of the LPA Associates proposal and
contract to develop architectural/engineering design plans totaling
$30,816 related to photovoltaic electricity-generating system at Top
of the World Elementary School.
WHAT IT MEANS:
The board voted to delay this project after the budget funds from
the Solar Schools Program were suspended indefinitely. The board will
revisit the proposal at its meeting on March 11 after it receives a
full report on the costs of implementing the system.
WHAT HAPPENED:
The board transferred $20,000 from the Laguna Beach Unified School
District contingency funds to the interim housing category at Laguna
Beach High School.
WHAT IT MEANS:
Offices and classrooms were relocated during construction at
Laguna Beach High School. The funds will provide for moving costs as
well as temporary phone, data and electrical lines.
WHAT HAPPENED:
The board reviewed El Morro Elementary School’s projected
close-out expenses and revenues as well as approved the revised
budget allocations for phase two and three construction activities.
WHAT IT MEANS:
The projected expenses of $228,236 versus projected revenues of
$255,199 result in a net balance of $26,936, which will be reserved
as contingency funds for phase three of construction.
WHAT HAPPENED:
The board approved change proposal requests related to phase two
playfield expansion at El Morro Elementary School.
WHAT IT MEANS:
The additional work expenses will be paid in part from the bond
construction manager’s contingency fund and from the school
district’s bond contingency fund. The expenses total $23,999.
WHAT HAPPENED:
The board approved change proposal requests related to fall
construction at Thurston Middle School.
WHAT IT MEANS:
The additional work expenses will be paid from the school
district’s bond contingency fund. The expenses total $17,769.
WHAT HAPPENED:
The board approved change proposal requests related to fall
package construction at Top of the World Elementary.
WHAT IT MEANS:
The additional work expenses will be paid from the school
district’s bond contingency fund. The expenses total $35,100.
WHAT HAPPENED:
The board approved payments totaling $308,350 from the general
obligation bonds.
WHAT IT MEANS:
The payments cover various construction and engineering costs for
work performed at El Morro Elementary, Top of the World Elementary,
Thurston Middle and Laguna Beach High schools.
