FEB. 5

* Fairview Road: A resident reported that his vehicle was

burglarized in the 100 block at 9:46 a.m. Someone entered the

vehicle, which was parked in the driveway, sometime during the night

and stole a briefcase, cell phone and Palm Pilot. Officers suspect

that the burglar may have gained entry through the unlocked sun roof.

Total loss $1,175.

* Laguna Canyon Road/Canyon Acres Drive: A driver reported a Jeep

stalled near the intersection at 10:30 a.m. An officer arrived to

assist.

* Police Station: A 40-year-old Laguna Beach man was arrested on

a warrant for misdemeanor vandalism at 11:26 a.m. The warrant was

issued because he failed to complete his community service hours.

* South Coast Highway: A resident reported that her cell phone

was stolen in the 30000 block at 12:40 p.m. She left her phone at the

grocery store on Feb. 3, and someone used it to make calls. The case

is under investigation.

FEB. 6

* South Coast Highway: Officers were called to a possible battery

in the 31000 block at 2:33 a.m. Emergency room staff were treating a

19-year-old man for a laceration to his right ear. The officers

suspected he was intoxicated when he refused to answer their

questions and told them he would have “to think about it.” The victim

has not yet filed a crime report with police.

* North Coast Highway/Aster Street: Officers responded to a

traffic collision at the intersection at 8:39 a.m. The driver was

approaching North Coast Highway when she reportedly looked away and

then collided into the car in front of her, which collided into the

car in front of it. The two victims complained of pain but refused

medical attention at the scene. The driver who caused the accident

was cited for unsafe starting.

* La Brea Street: A resident reported that his vehicle was

burglarized in the 200 block at 5:03 p.m. Someone used a hard object

to smash the rear right window and flee with the in-dash car stereo.

The loss is unknown.

FRIDAY

* South Coast Highway/Cleo Street: Officers responded to a

traffic collision at the intersection at 2:43 a.m.

* Laguna Canyon Road/Woodland Drive: Police conducted a traffic

stop near the intersection at 1:40 a.m. They arrested a 36-year-old

Aliso Viejo woman on suspicion of driving under the influence after

she failed a field sobriety test.

* Laguna Canyon Road/73 Toll Road: Officers responded to a grand

theft burglary at a construction site at 7:49 a.m. A manager

discovered that a local storage unit had been broken into. The

suspect made off with a generator, compacter and paint sprayer. Total

loss $6,200.

* South Coast Highway: School officials called police after

discovering signs of forced entry into the first-, third- and

eighth-grade classrooms in the 3000 block at 8:38 a.m. The case is

under investigation.

* Bells Vireo Lane/El Toro Road: A four-car collision was

reported in the area at 9:41 a.m.

* Top of the World Lane: Officers served a warrant for vandalism

in the 28000 block at 4:47 p.m. They arrested a 75-year-old Laguna

Beach man.

SATURDAY

* Diamond/Glenneyre streets: Police conducted a traffic stop near

the intersection at 2:12 a.m. They arrested a 32-year-old Huntington

Beach man on suspicion of driving under the influence.

* South Coast Highway/Diamond Street: Police conducted a traffic

stop near the intersection at 8:06 a.m. They arrested a 24-year-old

Azusa man on warrants for driving with a suspended license and for

failure to provide proof of financial responsibility.

* El Toro/Laguna Canyon roads: A two-car collision shut traffic

down at the intersection at 11:14 a.m. The driver who caused the

collision, made an illegal U-turn from the shoulder lane and was hit

by an oncoming vehicle.

* Allview Place: A resident reported a grand theft in the 600

block at 4:11 p.m. Someone entered two vehicles at the residence and

stole a laptop, two digital cameras and a mountain bike. Total loss

$10,201.

* South Coast Highway/Cleo Street: Police responded to a traffic

collision that shut down the highway on the southbound side in the

intersection at 6:08 p.m. A vehicle rear ended the other and the

victim was transported to South Coast Medical Center complaining of

head, neck and back pain. The driver who caused the collision was

cited for unsafe speed. The highway was reopened at 6:39 p.m.

* Del Mar Avenue: After repeated 911 hang-up calls, police

dispatchers sent officers to a residence in the 1800 block at 8:56

p.m. When officers arrived they heard a man and woman fighting

inside. They intervened and interviewed the couple. The 51-year-old

Laguna Beach woman claimed that she had been trying to dial 411. Upon

running a warrant check officers discovered that she had a warrant

out of South Court for failure to appear on charges of driving

without a valid driver’s license. She posted $500 bail and went home.

* Van Dyke Drive: Officers responded to a possible overdose in

the 100 block at 11:25 p.m. When they arrived on the scene they found

a woman curled into a fetal position in her locked vehicle. Outside

were women’s panties, shoes and other articles of clothing. After

they pounded on the car she came to and unlocked her vehicle. The

officers detected a strong alcohol smell and determined the

25-year-old Laguna Beach woman was very intoxicated. She was arrested

on suspicion of public intoxication and spent the night in jail.

SUNDAY

* Laguna Canyon Road: A traffic collision was reported in the

1900 block at 3:33 a.m. Four vehicles were involved and one patient

was transported to Mission Hospital.

* Laguna Canyon Road/73 Toll Road: A limo driver reported that

another driver ran him off the road near the intersection at 5:34

a.m. No one was injured but the passengers had to take a cab home

because the limo was towed.

* Terrace Way: Police responded to a call after a man discovered

that his 77-year-old mother died in her sleep in the 1300 block at

8:56 a.m. The Laguna Beach woman had prior medical problems.

* South Coast Highway: A hotel manager contacted police after a

guest asked her to let her husband back into their room in the 800

block at 9 p.m. The woman told the manager that she locked him out

onto the balcony and had to catch a flight. An officer escorted the

manager into the room and let the man back inside.

MONDAY

* Cliff Drive: An officer cited a gardener for using a leaf

blower in the 900 block at 9:49 a.m.

* Skyline Drive: A resident called animal services to request

their help in moving a dove’s nest in the 1300 block at 9:11 a.m. The

nest was moved safely.

* Park Avenue: A petty theft was reported in the 600 block at

11:07 a.m. Someone entered classrooms through the windows and made

off with $5 worth of change from a piggy bank over the weekend.

* Ruby Street: A resident went up to the ATM and discovered that

her accounts had been cleaned out in the 300 block at 2:17 p.m. She

reported to police that someone had withdrawn $8,556 out of her

accounts in eight different cities from San Francisco to Encino. She

had the card with her and had not revealed her PIN. The case is under

investigation.

* Wesley Drive: Neighbors called police after hearing a woman

yelling for help in the 21000 block at 11:18 p.m. Firefighters

discovered that a woman had fallen in her bathtub.

TUESDAY

* Canyon Acres Drive: Residents came home to find that someone

broke into their home and ransacked it in the 400 block at 10:59 p.m.

Someone gained entry through an unlocked sliding glass door. The

suspect threw an unknown liquid on the walls, smashed the coffee

table, lamps, knick knacks, the mirrored closet doors and threw a

television in the bathtub. Total damages $15,000.

* South Coast Highway: Officers were called for traffic control

in the 8000 block at 9:11 a.m. A vehicle lost a wheel but did cause a

traffic collision.

* South Coast Highway: A burglary was reported in the 3000 block

at 7:36 a.m. Someone gained entry into the eighth-grade class during

the night.

* Skyline Drive: A resident reported a grand theft in the 1500

block at 9:52 a.m. Two rings valued at $3,800 were stolen. The case

is under investigation.

* Wendt Terrace/Park Avenue: A resident requested patrol checks

at the intersection because cars were not stopping at the stop sign.
