Vanguard breezes, twice

Vanguard University displayed consistency to the maximum Friday,

posting identical 8-0 softball victories over visiting Bethany

College to improve to 8-2-1 overall.

The Lions used 10 hits and six innings to win the first game, then

posted nine hits over five innings for the second victory.

Celina Camarillo spun a one-hitter in the opener in her first

appearance of the season. Ashley Mauro, Beth Burchell and Jill Jessen

each had two hits.

In the nightcap, Jill Jessen struck out six and scattered three

hits en route to her first victory of the season.

Vanessa Bolich and Camarillo had two hits apiece.
