Beach Bums continue to lead the pack

The Beach Bums out of Region 55 remained atop to standings of the

boys’ under-10 Division tournament standings following two weekend

victories in AYSO All-Star competition.

The Beach Bums first defeated Region 1335, 6-1.

The spotted their opponent a 1-0 lead then evened up the match

when Tanner Smith delivered a perfect throw-in to Bajj Chela, who put

the ball in the net.

From there, it was all Beach Bums as five consecutive goals were

scored by Colton Stephens, Casey Harden, Tanner Greeley and Jacob

Rushing.

Their second win came at the expense of Region 117, which fell, 3-1.

Spencer Alarcon, Karson Hayden, Kevin Koeller, Tyler Fields,

Alexander Barone and Shane Osaki all contributed to the victory as

the Beach Bums ran their tournament record to 7-1.

In other games:

HB United 3, Riptide 0

The two-goal victory allowed HB United, a Region 56 Gold All-Star

team, to conclude Pool G tournament play with an 11-0-1 record and the title.

Sean Niemann, Bobby Ellis and Patrick Gannon each scored for the

winners.

The Riptide represented Region 55.

HB United, under the direction of coach John McArthur and

assistant coach John Bryant, is unbeaten in 22 consecutive matches

and will enter Sectional tournament play on Saturday.

HB United 2, Gunners 1

Down 1-0 at the half, HB United responded with second half goals

by Faris Barudi and Johnny Minar, whose posted the game-winning goal

with seven minutes to play.

Sean Niemann picked up an assist and Cameron McArthur and Micah

Downey each played a strong game in goal.

Justin Smith scored for the Gunners.

Gunners 1, Region 5 0

Justin Smith’s goal lifted the Gunners to victory and a second

place finish in the tournament.

Shane Bennett, Gavin Perdomo, Mitchell Phillipy, Marco Randazzo

and keeper Nicholas Carrigan combined to keep Region 5 off the

scoreboard.

Zach Jacobs, Taylor Nelson, Christian Rodriguez, Matthew Steinhaus

and Matthew Stickler also turned in strong performances as the

Gunners finished tournament play with a 9-2-1 record.

GIRLS’

Under-12 Division

Region 56 2, Goal de Locks 1

Region 56 emerged from a tense, see-saw battle to win the area

tournament.

Goal de Locks trailed, 2-0, before Stephanie Layton scored off a

Haley Townsend assist.

Goal de Locks, which finished second in the division tournament,

will play in this weekend’s Sectional playoffs.

Goal de Locks 3, Region 5 1

Erika Longoria, Alison Hensley and Stephanie Layton each scored

and Haley Townsend picked up an assist for Goal de Locks.

Teresa Bandurian, Shannon Bolotin, Kristy Verone, George Demes and

Hope Garski led the way on defense.
