Kohl’s all right somewhere else

I am appalled again at another Costa Mesa Planning Commission

sell-out to the Segerstroms. It would appear that with this group,

whatever Henry wants, Henry gets.

A large department store such as Kohl’s has no right to be in the

Mesa Verde area, where we are already choked with traffic and

bombarded with noise. I strongly urge the City Council to consider

the lives of us residents over the all-mighty tax dollar and turn

this project down flat.

My husband and I were at the Costa Mesa Planning Commission

meeting the other night. We stayed until 2:45 in the morning, with

both of us having to get up in the morning and function and having to

take care of kids.

I have put in a phone call to Perry Valentine of the planning

department and have yet to hear back from him. We are very unhappy

about the fact that Kohl’s department store is trying to go into our

neighborhood. Before we lived in this home, we lived in Lifestyles in

Costa Mesa and had to deal with Trinity Broadcasting, and we thought

we were leaving behind having to look at a monster big building, and

now we are coming here, and Kohl’s is trying to come here, and it

just does not fit. It doesn’t belong in people’s back yards.

I have no problem with Kohl’s. I think it sounds like they are an

amazing company. They have done well financially, but it doesn’t

belong in our neighborhood. There are plenty of places to shop around

here, and there must be a better, more suited location for Kohl’s to

build their building. We are not happy about the additional traffic

that will be going on. We are not happy about being able to see a

30-foot building from our home.
