My job is to be the eyes...

My job is to be the eyes and ears of our community. This means

covering the best and worst of things. Even events as tragic as last

week’s suicide attempt. But no matter what the situation is, it is my

responsibility to capture the moment -- to tell the story through my

photographs.

To visually communicate through pictures isn’t easy. Sometimes I

may think I’m telling the story as best as I can, but, sometimes, it

isn’t perfectly clear.

Maybe it’s about the moment. Maybe it’s the excitement of not

knowing what’s going to happen next. But being able to capture the

human struggle and heightened emotion unfolding right before my eyes

in one dramatic frame, demonstrates to me that I have fulfilled my

responsibilities as a photojournalist.

I feel compelled to search for that peak moment, that special

glimpse of life, like the one of a father breaking down in tears as

he hugs his son at a high school graduation or something so horrific

like bearing witness to a man falling to what he intended on being

his death.
