Patrick A. Bleil of Costa Mesa has enrolled at the Motorcycle

Mechanics Institute (MMI) in Phoenix. He plans to start June 16 and

will train to become a professional motorcycle technician. The

institute is supported and endorsed by American Honda Motor Co. Inc.,

American Suzuki Motor Corp Inc., Harley-Davidson Motor Co., Kawasaki

Motors Corp. USA and Yamaha Motor Corp. USA ... Marine Corps Pfc.

Gregory W. Murray of Newport Beach, son of Pamela A. and Mark A.

Murray, recently completed basic training with Headquarters and

Service Battalion, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego. Murray is a

2002 graduate of Corona del Mar High School ... Marine Corps Pvt.

Jennifer K. Sphar, a 2001 graduate of Orange Coast Middle College

High School, recently graduated from the Marine Corps Basic Combat

Engineer Course at Marine Corps Base, Camp Lejeune, N.C. Sphar will

accompany Marine infantry forces to build roads, set up camps and

fortify living areas ... Newport Coast resident Matt Corwin will

graduate from Army specialty training Thursday. His specialty is the

military police. Corwin has been assigned to Fort Meyer Military

Community ... Costa Mesa resident Jan Harmon, a staff aid with

college support services at Orange Coast College, has been nominated

for the school’s “Staff Member of the Year” award for 2002-03. The

winner will be announced Thursday. Harmon was one of four to be

nominated for this honor ... Sharon Daniel of Costa Mesa and Leon

Skeie of Newport Beach have both been nominated for Orange Coast

College’s “Faculty Member of the Year” for 2002-03. Daniel is a

professor of biological sciences and Skeie is a professor of physical

education and athletics. They are among seven nominated for the

honor. The winner will be announced Thursday ... Kevin Bowes,

district manager of Vector Marketing’s Costa Mesa office, was honored

recently at “The President’s Banquet” at the Bellagio Hotel, Las

Vegas. Bowes was among the company’s top national sales performers in

the 2002 “wind up” campaign. Vector is the marketer and distributor

of Cutco cutlery ... The Susan G. Komen Foundation Orange County

Affiliate in Costa Mesa has promoted volunteer manager Julie Reed to

development manager. In her new position, Reed will be responsible

for complete program management of Komen Orange County education,

outreach and survivorship activities, developing sponsor and donor

relationships and handling logistics for key fund-raising events.

Reed was previously an account executive for Golin/Harris

International in Los Angeles, and a media relations associate with

the Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona.
