Dodgers two-hit Giants

Nick Pederson and Josh Ryding combined to pitch a two-hitter in an

8-1 Dodger victory over the Giants Saturday in Costa Mesa National

Little League Majors Division play.

Mikey Morley and Ryding each had two hits while Nick Oliver, Frank

Denower, Coleman Brown and Bryan Maurer each drove in runs.

Eric McCool scored one of the Dodger runs while Alex Grosek and

Matthew Telles led the defense.

In Minor B play:

* Padres 11, Diamondbacks 4

The Padres scored seven runs in the first inning, led by offensive

MVP Brian Golden and Brett Donahue, Tre Le Ele, Michael Quintana,

Levi Stillman, Tyler Rios, Brian Burciaga and Ben Tolan.

Burciaga gave up one hit and one run in three innings while

Stillman, Rios and Tolan, picked as the game’s MVP, provided strong

defensive support.

In Farm Division play:

* The Dodgers’ Robert Sullivan hit a home run over the

center-field fence 150 feet away from the plate and went 3 for 3

against the Padres.

Brian Jolivette doubled twice, caught several pop flys and was

part of a double play for the Padres.

Max Gilbert went 3 for 4 while Ryan Adkisson, Noah Jeyerajah and

Patrick Cromwell each tallied hits for the Dodgers, who batted around

in the final inning.

Sullivan, Desmond Lewis, Ben Beck, Kylee Stone, Jeff Carlyle and

Yeizon Ramirez each had a hand in Padre outs with Rusty Rydjeski,

Noah Petero, Lisa Hyndman, A.J. Fischer and Kayla Hayes each stopping

numerous ground balls.

John Santoyo collected a clutch base hit and came around to score

on a throwing error. Brian Cromwell, Brandon Long and Gabriel Ruan

each played well in the field.

Joshua Butler continued his strong play at the plate and Manolo

Laguna sped around the bases.

* Diamondback Cole Mensinger went 3 for 4 with two RBIs and three

runs scored to against the Giants. Mensinger also made a solid catch

at shortstop.

Christian Darrow, Garrett Deutsch, Tyler Owens, Dante Capocia and

Mitchell Clevidence each had a multiple-hit game and scored several

runs. Danielle Moran, Bill Crosson and Zac Reidle provided additional

offensive and defensive support.

Nathan Frank and Alex De Soto each displayed their strength by

knocking two balls past the outfield cones for ground-rule doubles.

* Matthew Thomas drove in six runs and Jake Stone drove in five to

power the Mets against the Pirates.

Ray Barkis was awarded the Mets’ MVP.

Chad Fackler got a hit in every at-bat while Eric Pfautz drove in

four runs and played strong defense with an unassisted double play in

the fourth inning.

Brandon Dieckhoff doubled four times while Ryan West and Brad

Wilson also pounded two baggers and Cassie Stevenson tripled.

Harrison Stern started the Mets’ momentum by driving in two runs

with a first-inning double.
