Coastal Commission approves walkways

The California Coastal Commission on Tuesday approved a Newport

Beach project that will install four walkways for wheelchair-bound

beachgoers.

The commission approved an application from the Newport Beach

Public Works Department to start the $66,000 project.

The city will install walkways of various lengths near the Newport

and Balboa piers.

Work on the asphalt walkways should begin in September and wrap up

by October, project manager Lloyd Dalton said.

The commission also approved an application from 32nd St.

Investors LLC to build a mixed-use project. The developers want to

build a three-story project with 4,275 square feet of commercial

space and three condominiums measuring 8,005 square feet. The project

is at 424 32nd St.
