The growing season is here

Flowers stimulate the senses and enhance an environment in so many

ways. Color, scent and texture all intermingle to remind us of

special events, foreign places, childhood retreats and home. In the

past, flowers symbolized wealth, social status and even cultural

graciousness. The presence of certain types of flowers in the home

and garden warded off evil spirits or, when placed in the proper

position, enhanced good fortune and health for its inhabitants.

From a single bloom to an exotic arrangement, flowers are a gentle

reminder of the beauty and power of nature. Use them in a room to

enliven a space, to brighten your mood or spirit, or to relax and

calm nerves.

The art of growing, gathering, maintaining and arranging flowers

has been a subject of interest for many enthusiastic gardeners.

Although it may seem daunting, anyone can arrange a simple grouping

of blooms, leaves and/or branches. Give it a try, you may be

surprised by the results!
