Carol Powers

Carol F. Powers died April 7. She was 86.

Mrs. Powers was born in Auld, Calif., and grew up in Hemet before

moving to Laguna Beach. Her last residence was in Palm Springs.

In Laguna Beach,Powers and her husband, Porter W. Powers, opened

Carol’s Book Store, a combination print shop, bookstore, rental

library and beach goods emporium. The store was on South Coast

Highway for nearly 30 years.

Powers was a founding member of the Soroptomist International Club

of Laguna Beach and was involved in club affairs for 50 years.

Mrs. Powers is survived by her daughter Candace Ercoli of Palm

Springs; her son Robert Powers of New Mexico; her sister Helen

Rheingans of Hemet; and three grandchildren.

She was interred at San Jacinto Valley Cemetery.
