Water Pik elects 2 to three-year terms

Investors of Water Pik Technologies Inc. elected two company

directors to three-year terms ending in 2006.

Water Pik, which trades on the New York Stock Exchange under PIK,

announced the elections Thursday.

Babette E. Heimbuch, the chairman and chief executive of FirstFed

Financial Corp., and Charles J. Queenan Jr., the senior counsel to

law firm Kirkpatrick & Lockhart, won terms.

The company also announced it had appointed Ernst & Young as the

company’s independent auditors for 2003.

Water Pik is a leading manufacturer and marketer of personal

health care products, pool products and water-heating systems.

Micro finance expert speaks at Center Club

Nancy Barry, an expert in the world of micro-finance, spoke to a

group on Friday at the exclusive Center Club in Costa Mesa.

Barry, who grew up on Lido Isle, is the president of Women’s World

Banking, a network of lenders who offer loans to self-employed woman

in 40 counties.

She discussed the way the group has reached out to underprivileged

entrepreneurs to provide financial services.

Barry earned a bachelor’s from Stanford University and a master’s

in business administration from Harvard University.

Tourism expert discusses economy in Costa Mesa

A tourism industry expert spoke to local hospitality leaders

Tuesday at the Hilton Costa Mesa.

Carolyn Beteta, executive director of California Travel and

Tourism, talked about the importance of the tourism industry to the

state and local economies. She also mapped out how tourism can add

to, or subtract from the state budget.
