Kyne dancers have impressive showing

Several of Kyne Dance Academy’s dancers made it to the finals of

the scholarship audition at the Tremaine Dance Competition on April

14.

The dancers are taught a ballet and jazz combination, which they

learn and then perform with hundreds of other dancers.

Ali Tuchscher, Olivia Witte and Lexie Contursi made it to the

finals, and Jonathan Salta was awarded a scholarship.

Kyne Dance Academy’s Groove Team also performed nine dances, which

include tap, jazz, ballet and hip-hop. They received a third place in

tap, a third place in lyrical and a second place in ballet. The

Groove Team attends about seven competitions a year and also performs

a “Groove Team Revue” at the end of the year. This year the revue

will take place at the Artist’s Theatre on June 21.

Hunks in Trunks ready to strut

The Laguna Shanti AIDS Resource Center will present the second

annual Hunks in Trunks, Male Model Fashion Show featuring fashion,

food, entertainment and celebrity guests at the Laguna Beach Art

Museum.

Comedian Judy Tenuta will be the mistress of ceremonies.

Major Donor Admission $500 includes private hosted reception,

mingling models and celebrity guests, dinner buffet and reserved

seating in front of the stage. General admission is $100 per person

and includes dinner buffet and entertainment. There are only 200

total tickets and they are available through Laguna Shanti (949)

494-1446. All of the funds raised benefit Laguna Shanti AIDS Resource

Center.

As mistress of ceremonies, Tenuta will perform her one women smash

hit show. Adding to the evening’s energy is DJ Steven Oliveri.

Fashions for the male model fashion show will be provided by Satisfy

My Soul, and the dinner buffet will be provided by the Sundried

Tomato Cafe and Catering. Highlighting the fashion show are models

from Hunks in Trunks/Laguna Shanti 2003 Calendar and swimmers from

WH2O West Hollywood Swim Team. For more information, visit

Kate Hunter Kelly to give talk on dreams

Kate Hunter Kelly will give a talk about “The Wisdom of Dreams” at

the Neighborhood Congregational Church.

Kelly is a psychotherapist, dream artists and writer. The

discussion will explore the higher wisdom of dreams.

The group will meet from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on May 7 at 340 St. Ann’s

Drive. A $10 donation is requested. Half of the proceeds will benefit

Greenpeace.
