Six selected to attend Girls State
Six young women have been selected by the American Legion Auxiliary
of Newport Harbor Unit 291 to attend Girls State at Pitzer College,
Claremont, from June 22 to 28.
They are Lauren Kiser of Corona del Mar High School; Erin Costello
of Costa Mesa High School; Britta Pitti of Estancia High School; Yumi
Nam of Irvine High School; Nasim Khaden of Newport Harbor High
School; and Diana Rosen of Northwood High School.
The delegates were selected because of their academic excellence,
as well as their involvement in extracurricular school and community
activities, said Cynthia Culp, Girls State chairman for the post.
They will join 500 young women from throughout the state for the
conference.
The young ladies were honored guests at a district luncheon and
they will be featured guests at the May business meeting of the local
auxiliary.
Congratulations to one and all.
